Amtola Archaeological Site is located at Amtola approximately 6 km from Hojai railway station. The site was listed by the Directorate of Archaeology, Assam since 2011. It consists of the remains of a brick structure and archaeological remains of a stone temple, stylistically datable to the c. 9th –10th century CE. The site also has a pair of historical tanks located to the east and west. Excavations undertaken in 2012–13 uncovered a brick temple plinth measuring 10 × 13 metres to the northeast of the modern Siva temple. Further excavations revealed stone stairways, a brick embankment, and a prepared floor surface, attesting to the site’s architectural complexity.
